The Future Of Search According To Yahoo!

Richard Firminger, Regional Sales Director, Northern Europe at Yahoo! Search Marketing wrote about the future of search in the Yahoo! Search Marketing Winter Newsletter. According to him, the year 2007 will see the following main trends:

  • Search results will start to include text (sponsored ads and organic listings), images, rich media and even user generated content e.g. answers from Yahoo! Answers, which is already happening.
  • Advertisers will start cautiously advertising on social media sites
  • Semantic search or natural language search will come to the forefront
  • Mobile data tariffs will be lowered and mobile search advertising will rise.
