12.3 Million Visitors To Mobile Social Networks In June

Mobile market analysts M:Metrics have released their first report measuring the usage of mobile social networks in the United States and Western Europe. The findings are based on a three-month moving average for the period ending June 2007, with data drawn from a survey of 103,457 respondents in the UK, Germany, France, Spain, Italy and the United States.

MySpace is the most popular mobile social network in the UK, while Windows Live Spaces is the favourite in France, Germany, Italy and Spain.

7.5 million Americans accessed mobile social networking sites, accounting for 3.5 percent of total mobile subscribers. More Italians use mobile social networks than Brits. Italy had 1.3 million or 2.8 percent usage, compared to 1.1 million, or 2.5 percent in the UK. Subscribers in Spain totalled 751,000 (2.3 percent), Germany (1.9 percent) and France (1.7 percent).

Frequency of access was highest overall in the US, with 3.5 percent users accessing sites at least once a month. However Italy had the highest percentage (1.5 percent) of visitors accessing social networking or blog sites from their mobile handsets on a daily basis. The rankings in the US are similar, except YouTube occupies the third position there.

   I think there is one here to watch – Funkysexycool looks like its started its entrance to the market with an invite only site @ funkysexycool.com the site was running in germany with mtv but was plagued by technical problems
