France Press Settles With Google

Agence France Presse, one of the largest news agencies in France, had sued Google for €13.2 million back in 2005. The dispute was over allegations from France Presse that Google violated their copyright by using content from AFP’s pages on Google News.

Last week, the two companies settled their dispute with an agreement that is supposed to be satisfactory for both companies.

One can’t help but think that the passage of time and settlement has worked more in the favour of Google, for whom €13.2 million is now a mere drop in the ocean, compared to two years ago, when they couldn’t afford to go about splashing out $3.1 billion on a whim.
