Capitalizing Display URLs In Microsoft adCenter

Add the AccuraCast News gadget to iGoogleApril 5th, 2007

Microsoft adCenter makes all URLs within an ad default to lower case, in order to avoid landing page server errors showing up due to inappropriate capitalization. However, in some instances advertisers require the use of capital letters for branding or recognition. The adCenter blog has provided a workaround for this.

They say (and we quote): “Simply save the properly formatted URL in a parameter (param2 or param3 is a good choice), then use the parameter as the ad’s Display URL.” The screenshot of the resulting ad setup is shown below:

Seems a bit complicated for such a simple task. One wonders why they couldn’t just apply the rules they wanted to destination URLs and let users set display URLs as they wanted?!
