Google Provides More Local Results In OneBox

Google’s official blog recently featured a post titled “Googler insights into product and technology news and our culture.” This post highlighted some of the new local search results that are now included in the OneBox result on the regular search pages.

Results for all searches that are location specific will now display a map with several location / venue choices at the top of the page, in the OneBox. Alongside the map will be some information including basic contact details, ratings (for restaurants) and one-click access to reviews, directions and further information.

The Official Google Blog also provides examples of how you can search and compare local businesses and services:

• Find the location of and driving directions to the Googleplex (or any specific address).
• Find and compare Mexican restaurants in Pasadena, CA.
• Get directions to and read reviews about a local eatery in Pittsburgh.
• Find movie showtimes for films that are playing in your neighborhood.
