Social Network Stats For June 2008
22nd July 2008
Nielsen online has released the latest rankings of social networks for the month of June 2008. Two social networks have out-shone the rest.
Facebook has reason to smile, as they have received a record 29.2 million unique visitors in the U.S. alone, which is a 10% increase compared to the figures for May, and a 77% rise compared to their performance in June 2007.
The other social networking site that has done very well last month is LinkedIn, which registered over 20% growth in the last month itself, and a 187% growth on a year–over– year basis. They had 9.5 million unique visitors in the month of June.
Although MySpace remains the undisputed leader among the Social networks, by a huge margin of more than double the number of visitors that their closest rival, Facebook, had, they seem to have reached a phase of stagnation. They have shown no growth, compared to the same month last year. In fact, their 59.4 million unique visitors this June, represents a slight decline from last month, when they had 60.6 million unique visitors.
According to Nielsen, another up and coming social network to watch out for is Ning, which had 2.2 million unique visits in June this year, which accounts for a 326% growth compared to last year, when the site had just been launched.
