Social Profile Leads To Death
21st October 2008
A woman aged 34, residing in South London, was murdered by her husband earlier this year after he saw her marital status on Facebook change to ’single’.
BBC News reports that the woman, named Emma Forrester was killed by her husband Wayne Forrester, 34, who has been sentenced to a minimum of 14 years behind bars.
According to Forrester, an HGV driver, he and his wife Emma had just separated after 15 years of a not-so-happy marriage. He said that she had forced him out. Soon after this, he discovered that she had changed her profile on the social networking site, Facebook, showing her status as single and looking to meet other men.
The husband thought his estranged wife was having an affair, and called up her parents to rave and rant about it. The next day he drove down to her house drunk and high on cocaine. He attacked her in the early hours of the morning.
Pleading guilty to the murder, Forrester said “I loved Emma and felt totally devastated and humiliated about what she had done to me.” No doubt Emma’s two children and family think that is no cause for murder.
