Former model, Carla Franklin, has been called some very unsavoury names in comments posted on a Columbia Business School website and in comments on videos posted by anonymous users on YouTube. She has decided not to take things lying down, and is suing the parent company Google in order to unmask the bully.
Franklin is a graduate from the Duke and Columbia Universities in the fields of biology and psychology. She now works as a consultant. When she was notified about the videos and derogatory comments posted by three persons or a person using three different aliases, she decided to face matters head on. Her attorney, David Fish says, “People hide behind these shields and think they can just post anything. Hopefully, we can put a stop to this.”
The videos were posted last year by users Joebloom08, JimmyJean008 and Greyspector09. They have used clips of a small movie she acted in without authorisation and also used words like “whore” to describe her. By suing Google, Franklin wants to pressurise the company to disclose details such as the name and address of the person who has posted these videos, so that this sort of thing does not happen again. In fact, her lawyer says that she has a “pretty good idea” about who the person is, but she obviously needs some proof in order to implicate him in court.
The same tactic has been used in the past by model Liskula Cohen. There has been no comment from Google on the matter. However, one of the offending accounts has been closed and all videos have been deleted from the other two.
