The popular microblogging site Twitter has recently launched a new version of ‘Expanded Tweets’.
Twitter has entered into a partnership with various online media companies to provide a larger range of content on Tweets.
Users will now be able to preview stories, images, and videos linked to within tweets. So far it was possible for users to see photos loaded on Instagram Photos or watch videos on YouTube.
Twitter has now gone ahead and entered into partnerships with various companies such as The Wall Street Journal and Time to deliver richer content in tweets.
“When you expand a Tweet linking to a news article by The New York Times, The San Francisco Chronicle or Der Spiegel Online, you can see a preview with the headline, the introduction and sometimes the Twitter accounts of the publisher and writer,” Michael Sippey, the director of Twitter’s product team, explained in the blog post. “You can continue to read the article, follow these accounts, and reply, favourite or retweet the Tweet.”
Twitter have also promised to provide images from TMZ and BuzzFeed, as well as video from BET, Lifetime, and Dailymotion.
