Google charging 2%-5% DST from 1st November

Google is passing on the entire cost of a new UK digital services tax to advertisers, the company announced in an unexpected email on September 1st 2020. From November, ads running in the following three countries will be charged at the end of the month an additional:

  • 2% in the UK
  • 5% in Austria
  • 5% in Turkey

We will be advising all clients individually about the implications of this tax in the coming weeks, as it will affect all advertisers who target the UK, Austrian, and Turkish markets.
